Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 15, 2024 – A Jonesboro woman reported to JPD that she was deceived on the internet and ultimately became a victim of a scam.

The 40 year old victim told Jonesboro Police that she was contacted on Facebook by an individual under the name “Michael Rogers” who she began corresponding with on Facebook and then via text message. The suspect began asking her to send various items and goods that “they were going to pay her back for.”

The victim ultimately sent $1,700 in Apple Gift Cards and $2,700 worth of Apple goods including an iPhone, AirPods, and an Apple Watch to the suspect.

These items were sent to an address in Nigeria.

The victim told police that she realized that she’d been scammed after she mailed the items.
