KASU to Host Live Fall Fundraiser in September and October

Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – KASU 91.9 FM, the public media service of Arkansas State University, will hold its Live Fall Fundraiser starting next week.

The fundraising event will be from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, and will continue from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Tuesday, Sept. 29, through Friday, Oct. 2.  

Fundraising Fridays will be held twice in October. Donors can participate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

These fundraisers continue KASU’s efforts to offset funding challenges due to the elimination of federal support for public media. 

“KASU continues to navigate these uncertain times with the support of A-State, listener member donations, and businesses through underwriting,” said Mark Smith, KASU station manager. “These are uncharted waters for KASU and public media nationwide. As we continue to look for new and increased revenue streams, listener and underwriter support from our community is more significant than ever before.” 

The KASU Fall Fundraiser goal is $60,000. Donations can be made online anytime here or by downloading the KASU mobile app.  
 
KASU listeners can become members by making financial contributions to the non-profit educational station. 

KASU is “On the Road to 70” this year and will be celebrating its 70th birthday on Monday, May 17. KASU signed on the air on May 17, 1957. KASU is Arkansas’ oldest non-commercial public radio station. The station has been an NPR member station since 1971. In addition to locally produced news and music programs, KASU buys programming from NPR, American Public Media, and other sources. 

“There has never been a more important time to support public radio and KASU. Our listeners and underwriters consistently support the station they love, helping us to sustain the programming, and we appreciate all the support we continue to be given,” Smith added.
