Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The 85th annual “Pop” Stricklin Pancake Day, the primary fundraiser for the Jonesboro Kiwanis Club of Greater Jonesboro, will be Saturday, March 7, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 710 Southwest Drive.

The event had been started in 1940 and has taken place every year except 2021, when the pandemic forced a cancelation.

Tickets will be $7 per person in advance, with children 6 and under eating free, and may be purchased from any member of the Kiwanis Club. The ticket price at the door will be $9.

Kiwanis Pancake Day has long been a popular and successful civic club fundraiser in Northeast Arkansas. In 2025, the club sold more than 2,000 tickets.

Thanks mostly to Pancake Day, the club has been able to award more than $265,000 in scholarships to help outstanding area high school graduates in their first year of college at Arkansas State University. The level of each of the three scholarships is now $3,000.

Pop Stricklin was a prominent longtime member of the Jonesboro club. He was for many years supervisor of maintenance for the Carl R. Reng Center at ASU and served on the Jonesboro City Council for more than 30 years. He died in 2002.

The club’s Pancake Day chairman is Brad Magee.
