Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Leadership Jonesboro, a program of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the graduation of its 40th class on Aug. 6 at the Cooper Alumni Center on the campus of Arkansas State University.

Graduates were joined by friends, family members, distinguished guests, and representatives from the businesses and organizations they represent.

Participants explore topics including government, education, healthcare, economic development, social issues, industry, and quality of life while connecting with leaders and organizations throughout the region.

As part of the program, members of the 40th class divided into six teams to complete community-focused projects addressing a variety of needs throughout the Jonesboro area.

This year’s projects included Tailgate Time, a mental health initiative focused on farmers; Home Starts With Hope, which provided household essentials and other necessities to individuals transitioning from recovery programs into homes of their own; an effort to provide fans to community members during the summer heat; a food donation initiative; the revitalization of a courtyard at Methodist Family Health with new seating, plants, flowers, and a mural; and a senior care drive providing puzzles and other items to individuals in senior care facilities.

The Aug. 6 ceremony marked not only the completion of the program for Leadership Jonesboro’s 40th class, but also the continuation of a four-decade tradition of developing informed, engaged leaders committed to the future of Jonesboro.
