Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A man is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond after police said he punched and strangled his girlfriend during a domestic disturbance in Jonesboro.

On June 24, Jonesboro police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on East Oak Street. When they arrived, they found a victim who had barricaded herself inside a room. She told them that her boyfriend, 35-year-old Kesean Renee Henry, of Memphis, TN, became jealous and angry after she returned home from being out with a friend.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim said Henry punched her, forced her to the ground, and strangled her to the point she could barely breathe. Additionally, the affidavit said Henry repeatedly slammed the victim’s head against the ground while strangling her.

Officers took photos of the victim’s injuries, which included a cut on her cheek, bleeding to the inside of her lower lip, which was swollen, finger-shaped red marks on the right side of her neck, and bruising on the left side of her neck.

Henry appeared before District Judge David Boling later that day, who found probable cause to charge him with two offenses:

  • Aggravated assault on a family or household member (Class D felony)
  • Third-degree domestic battery (Class A misdemeanor)

During the hearing, Boling noted a history of missing court and violent crimes, leading to the $100,000 bond for Henry and an order to wear a GPS ankle monitor if Henry is released.

Henry’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted on both charges, he faces up to seven years in prison and fines up to $12,500.
