Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A man is being held on a $350,000 cash/surety bond after Jonesboro police said he forced his way into a victim’s home, choked her unconscious, and fired a handgun at her while her children were present.

District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Nov. 5 to charge 33-year-old Jeremy Akeem Delvridge with the following:

  • Class Y Felony: Aggravated residential burglary
  • Class A Felony: Criminal attempt (Murder I)
  • Class D Felony: First-degree terroristic threatening
  • Class D Felony: Aggravated assault on a family or household member
  • Class D Felony: Possession of a firearm by certain persons (prior felony)
  • Class D Felony: Tampering with physical evidence
  • Class D Felony: Theft by receiving a firearm less than $2,5000
  • Class A Misdemeanor: Fleeing
  • Class A Misdemeanor: First-degree criminal mischief (Property of another with a value of $1,000 or less)
  • Class A Misdemeanor: Two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor
  • Municipal Ordinance (Local): Discharging firearms within city limits

The charges stem from an incident on Nov. 1, in which Jonesboro police officers were dispatched to a home on Phillip Evans Way for a reported domestic disturbance.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers saw a woman running toward them when they arrived, saying Delvridge was in the home with her child. Upon entry, they saw Delvridge standing in the hallway holding a firearm and speaking with the child.

Officers ordered Delvridge to drop the gun, but he ignored their commands and instead walked into another room, out of the officers’ line of sight. Officers then heard the sound of a window opening, so they exited the home. They then saw Delvridge standing outside without the gun, and he was detained without incident.

Police met with the victim again, who told them that she and Delvridge were previously in a relationship, and he had no reason to be at her home. Delvridge knocked on the victim’s window and asked her to come to the front door. Upon opening the door, Delvridge forced his way inside, grabbing her and pulling her toward a back bedroom, the affidavit said.

The affidavit said once the two were in the bedroom, Delvridge accused the victim of being involved with other men and began choking her to the point that she couldn’t breathe. She pushed her arms between his arms to break free.

Delvridge hit the victim in the head when she sat up, causing her to hit a wall. She eventually escaped to the living room, but lost consciousness.

The victim said when she regained consciousness, Delvridge was on her again. The affidavit said the disturbance woke one of the victim’s children, causing them to exit their bedroom, and for Delvridge to place his hand over the victim’s mouth to quiet her.

When the child entered the room, the victim told them they were “just playing” and to go back to bed. Delvridge then told the victim that he was going to “knock her out,” dragged her to the kitchen and struck her in the face. This caused the victim to urinate.

Police said Delvridge then referenced firing his gun and discharged a round out the front door, followed by another shot out the back door.

Because the victim had urinated on herself, Delvridge forced her into the bathroom and placed a handgun under her chin while inside. The affidavit said the victim turned her head as a round was discharged, which missed her. Delvridge then put the victim in the bathtub, closed the shower curtain, and fired another round, striking one of the bathroom walls, according to police.

The affidavit said that at this time, the victim’s two children were awake and began knocking on the bathroom door. When Delvridge opened the door, he hid the firearm in his pocket and began talking with the children. One of them returned to their room while the other stayed in the hallway.

The victim took this opportunity to get dressed and tell Delvridge she needed to step outside to smoke, according to police. Delvridge allowed her to leave, although the affidavit said he initially did not want her to.

Once outside, the victim went to her child’s bedroom window and told them to call the police. Officers arrived soon after the victim went back inside the home.

During the investigation, the victim told officers the firearm Delvridge used belonged to her, adding that she did not know how he obtained it.

The affidavit said officers found two bullet holes in the bathroom, with one in the wall and another in the ceiling. Ring camera footage also showed Delvridge arriving home with the gun in his hand. The firearm was later hidden in a bedroom after Delvridge left the home.

The victim suffered multiple scratches and redness around her neck consistent with the incident, according to the affidavit. The victim told officers she went in and out of consciousness during the incident multiple times.

In addition to the $350,000 bond, Delvridge was ordered to have contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Delvridge’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16.
