Minor Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on US 49 in Brookland

Brookland, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A minor driver in a Ford F-150 was killed in a motor vehicle accident just after midnight on July 29.

According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP) fatal accident report, the minor was driving the 2023 pickup headed southbound on US 49 at E. Johnson Avenue in Brookland when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The accident happened at 12:18 a.m.

The ASP has not released additional details on the minor, and next of kin have been notified. Brookland Public Schools posted on Facebook about the accident.

The post reads:

“As our school community grieves the loss of one of our students, counselors are available on campus today for any student who needs support or someone to talk with. Grief affects everyone differently, and we encourage students to reach out to a counselor, teacher, or administrator whenever they need help. Parents who have concerns about their child may also contact the school office for assistance. Please continue to keep the student’s family, friends, classmates, and our entire school community in your thoughts and prayers.”

The fatal accident report indicated the weather condition was clear and the road was dry.
