Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – St. Bernards Healthcare announced the addition of Maheen Khan, M.D., to the healthcare system’s growing team of expert neurosurgeons.

Dr. Khan specializes in the treatment and removal of complex tumors, both malignant and benign, of the skull and spine. She joins St. Bernards after serving as an assistant professor of skull base and neuro-oncology at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., where she also completed a neurosurgery residency and a fellowship in complex spine surgery.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s School of Medicine and capped her education with a skull base/cerebrovascular and functional fellowship at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Alice Cherqui, St. Bernards Chief of Neurosurgery, said Dr. Khan brings expert training and experience that further build neurosurgical care options in northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri.

“Dr. Maheen Khan is an exceptional neurosurgeon,” Dr. Cherqui said. “She has extensive knowledge and experience treating complex tumors of the brain and spine. We are proud that she chose St. Bernards Neurosurgery to continue her practice. With Dr. Khan’s expertise, St. Bernards Neurosurgery will be able to offer a comprehensive experience that transforms the future of brain health, one patient at a time.”

Dr. Khan is a well-published researcher and holds memberships with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

She provides comprehensive consultations and treatments for a wide range of cranial conditions, including functional disorders, trauma, skull base issues, open vascular cases, and neuro-oncology tumors. In addition, Dr. Khan evaluates and treats both degenerative and traumatic spine conditions.

Born in Pakistan and raised in Houston, Dr. Khan incorporates the latest evidence-based guidelines and advanced minimally-invasive techniques into her practice. She values building partnerships with her patients toward better health.

Dr. Khan lives in Jonesboro with her husband, Dr. Safder Hasan, a hand surgeon who will also join St. Bernards later this year.
