Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Over the weekend, Nu Tau Sigma, the Jonesboro alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, partnered with Houlihan’s to sponsor two local families for Thanksgiving meals.

L.C. Kennedy Jr., chair of the fundraising committee and co-chair of the community service and scholarship committee for the fraternity, said the chapter adopted Douglas MacArthur Junior High School, which is where both recipients attend, to help underprivileged families.

Both the fraternity chapter and Houlihan’s contributed food items for an entire Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey, ham, canned goods, side dishes, desserts, pasta noodles, spaghetti sauce, and more.

“It was like Christmas,” Kennedy said when describing presenting the meals to the families. “It was just a smile on their faces saying, ‘thank you.'”

Kennedy added that neither family was expecting as much food as they received.

Kennedy said that, in the future, he hopes the chapter will further expand the initiative, which they have been doing for three years.

“Especially in times like these, you don’t realize how good you have it until you see someone that’s less fortunate,” he said. “So, we would like to expand to serve more families … get some more community partners involved and make it something bigger.”
