Brookland, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 12, 2025 – An incident involving a “concerning comment involving a weapon” at Brookland Public Schools on Thursday is under investigation by police.

A news release from BPS superintendent George Kennedy said a student made the comment following an after-school activity.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. As soon as the comment was reported to us, we immediately contacted law enforcement,” Kennedy said in the release. “They are now leading the investigation. The student involved is not on campus, and we are following all school and district policies for disciplinary action.”

Kennedy said the school takes all safety concerns seriously, and urged parents and guardians to speak with their children regarding the “seriousness of making comments like this and the importance of reporting any safety concerns to a trusted adult.”
