Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 7, 2024 – According to a post on the Abilities Unlimited Recycling page, their recycling contract with the City of Jonesboro will end on June 30th.

The post stated “Plastic will no longer be accepted. Blue bags will no longer be accepted. The only things accepted for recycling will be cardboard, metal and some electronics.”

This caused mild panic among Jonesboro residents who utilize the recycling program.

No fear, the contract has reportedly been picked up by local waste management company, Marck Industries after they won the low bid and will continue on July 1.

The resolution went before the Public Works Council Committee on June 4 and was forwarded to full council. The City Council will vote on the resolution on June 18.

According to a post made by the City of Jonesboro, “There will not be any changes to the City of Jonesboro’s curbside recycling program for residents. The only change occurring is the processor of the material. Residents will not see any changes to the blue bin recycling bin program.”
