Oxford, MS – Contributed – Arkansas State (3-1, 0-0 SBC) fell on the road at No. 16 Ole Miss (4-0, 0-0 SEC) in walk-off fashion Tuesday evening at Swayze Field, 7-6.

Ole Miss scored first with a fielding error that scored one run in the bottom of the opening frame. Arkansas State responded in the next inning with a flurry of baserunners capitalizing off singles and infield errors, the Red Wolves taking the lead 3-1.

The Rebels tied the game back up in the third inning, but Collin Maloney responded with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning and his first start of the season. A quiet fourth inning gave way to the Red Wolves putting another crooked-number inning up, with the first three A-State batters reaching base safely, one scoring off an RBI single. The next two runs came in off an RBI groundout and a single zipping out of the infield. Ole Miss got one run back with a solo homer on the home side of the inning.

An RBI-double for Ole Miss in the bottom of the seventh cut down the Red Wolves’ lead to just one heading into the final two innings, and loaded the bases and found the tying run before the Red Wolf bullpen worked out of the jam.

Ole Miss scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a sac fly to right field.

Win: Landon Koenig (1-0)
Loss: Andrew Allen (0-1)
