UPDATE | Severe Thunderstorm Warning Allowed to Expire Due to Weakening Storm

Update (11:10 p.m.): The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Craighead County will expire at 11:15 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, the storm has weakened below severe limits and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Residents may still experience small hail and gusty winds as the system moves through, but the severe warning is being allowed to expire.

Update (10:54 p.m.): The National Weather Service is keeping the Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for Craighead County until 11:15 p.m. As of 10:54 p.m., the severe storm was located near Egypt and Bono, moving southeast at a slightly faster speed of 20 mph. The threat of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail remains active for Jonesboro and surrounding communities.

Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Craighead County until 11:15 p.m. tonight.

The slow-moving storm system is tracking southeast at 15 mph and carries the threat of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Residents should anticipate potential wind damage to trees, roofs, and siding, alongside possible hail damage to vehicles. Torrential rainfall is also associated with this storm, bringing an additional risk of flash flooding.
