Sheriff’s race develops on first day of candidate filing

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A race for Craighead County Sheriff developed on the first day candidates were allowed to file to run in the March 3, 2026, Arkansas primary election.

Current assistant chief deputy for the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, Jason Allen, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for sheriff in August. Allen made it official by filing Monday.

Randy Eggers, an equipment operator for the Craighead County Road Department, also filed as a Republican for Craighead County Sheriff. Eggers was formerly a general manager at the Mall at Turtle Creek and served as a reserve deputy for the Sheriff’s Department.
