Little Rock, AR – Jonesboro Media Group – KDXY-FM/HD 104.9 The Fox was named Arkansas Radio Station of the Year at the Arkansas Broadcast Excellence luncheon Friday at the Wyndham Hotel in North Little Rock.

The event was sponsored by the Arkansas Broadcast Association to honor superior radio and television broadcast performance. “We received over 70 entries this year,” said Neal Gladner, executive director of the ABA. “It’s obvious there are some great broadcasters doing a great job across our state.”

KDXY (The Fox) has been on the air as a mainstream country radio station since March, 1997. To be named statewide Radio Station of the Year a station must demonstrate an overall excellence. Factors considered include programming, promotions, community relations and service, public affairs/public service programming, and station awards and recognition. Station employees serving on boards and in location organizations is important.

“All of our stations are an important and meaningful part of our communities,” said Trey Stafford, President and General Manager of the Jonesboro Media Group. “The Fox gets the spotlight because of our tenured on-air staff. But all of our stations share in this award given to The Fox.”

Stafford and Jim Frigo, who have hosted the morning show on KDXY (The Fox) since September 1997 were awarded the award for medium market Best Radio Morning Show or Morning Team. “How bout that! Wow!, “said Frigo who was on vacation in Florida this week visiting his daughter. “They even said my name!”

The Jonesboro Media Group received two other awards at Friday’s luncheon, including medium market award for Best Radio Promotional Announcement for a client for the “Power Up Giveaway” the company did for Jetton Power Solutions. The group also won the medium market award for Best Radio Promotional Announcement for a Station Promotion for the Have-a-Heart Wishathon.

“We pride ourselves in producing the strongest creative in the market,” said Ben Blankenship who held the position at Jonesboro Media Group for 19 years before stepping away to run his own voice talent business in 2015. Blankenship returned to JMG in July 2025.

“Being honored by your peers for doing your best is a great feeling,” said Stafford. “We are grateful and proud.”

Jonesboro’s East Arkansas Broadcasters received two awards at Thursday’s event for sports play-by-play and radio promotion.
