Traffic Patterns to Change for Arkansas Graveler Kickoff in Jonesboro

Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Traffic pattern changes for the kickoff of the Arkansas Graveler are scheduled in early October as more than 200 cyclists begin their journey across the Delta from Jonesboro.

The ride itself is scheduled for begin Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 a.m., as riders depart from Centennial Bank Stadium parking lot on the Arkansas State University campus. Opening ceremonies, which will include a performance of the National Anthem by the A-State Choir and remarks from local officials, will begin at 8 a.m.

A-State’s University Police Department and the Jonesboro Police Department will escort riders through town as they hit gravel roads south of Jonesboro.

This escort is expected to create brief traffic slowdowns on Red Wolf Boulevard between Aggie Road and Stallings Lane. JPD will block traffic on all lanes of Nettleton Avene and E. Matthews Avenue, in addition to Highland Drive as cyclists cross from the Mall at Turtle Creek to the Greenways Trail.

Officials said this traffic block will “only take a minute or two.”

In addition, the night before, on Monday, Oct. 5 will see the closure of the 200 block of Main Street from 4-9 p.m. This “Meet Me on Main” style event will include live music, a pop-up event inside of Gearhead Outfitters, and live music at the Brickhouse.

The Arkansas Graveler is a five-day gravel cycling ride that takes bikers through a different region of the state each year. During the 2024 ride, the Graveler concluded in Jonesboro. Bikers did not visit Jonesboro in 2025, but this year, the city will serve as the kickoff city. The ride concludes in Arkansas City on Oct. 10.
